I’m proud to say I’m an award-winning author and by that, I don’t mean the popularity contest awards often featured on social media. Okay, maybe I’ve never won the Booker Prize, but my awards are all prestigious ones.
I’ve been writing for many more years than I like to think about and over those years I’ve won many awards for my writing, too many to list, and some I’ve forgotten about. Blame my senior moments.
However, the ones I will never forget are the major ones which I will list below:
- SAW (Scottish Association of Writers) Pitlochry Quaich for Night Watcher (2001).
- SAW (Scottish Association of Writers) Pitlochry Quaich for Dead Wood (2008).
- Dundee International Book Prize for Dead Wood (2009)
- SAW (Scottish Association of Writers) Barbara Hammond Trophy for The Death Game (2015).

Pitlochry Trophy 2001 & 2008
Dundee International Book Prize 2009
Barbara Hammond Trophy 2015
As I said earlier, I’m really proud of these awards and anytime the writing isn’t flowing well and I start to doubt myself, as all writers do from time to time, I just have to look at them to confirm to myself that I am an author and these awards are confirmation of that.
